9. Assisting the legal team in deposition preparations and attending depositions   

This service prepares questions designed to obtain as much information as possible from the deponent.  Topics or areas requiring clarification or explanation with be identified through documents including but not limited to

• Thorough medical record review

• Interrogatory answers

• Correspondence

• Billing information

• Applicable standards of care

• Other documentation obtained through the Discovery process

This service also focuses on preparing the attorney’s client for deposition thereby decreasing anxiety and increasing confidence

• Drafting a list of potential question

• Explaining the deposition process

During the deposition, the legal nurse consultant will identify issues that require further explanation or clarification by the deponent and bring this information to the attorney’s attention. 

Following the deposition, the legal nurse consultant will prepare a deposition digest to identify key information disclosed by the deponent for use by the attorney and legal team throughout case preparation.
